Short answer
An offline base station has lost its internet connection, not necessarily its power. The most common causes are a new router or changed Wi-Fi password, an internet outage, or the base station being unplugged and running down its backup battery. Check the light on the base station, confirm your internet works, then use the Ring app's network settings for the base station to reconnect it to Wi-Fi or plug it into the router with an Ethernet cable.

Check the basics
- Power. Make sure the base station is plugged in and the outlet works. On battery alone it keeps running for a while, then shuts down.
- Internet. Check that other devices in the house can get online. If the internet is down, the base station will come back on its own once it returns.
- Router. Restart the modem and router, wait a few minutes, then check the app again.
You changed your router or Wi-Fi password
The base station keeps trying the old network name and password. In the Ring app, open your Alarm, go to the base station's settings, and look for the network or Wi-Fi option to connect it to the new network. The app walks you through it. If you used the same network name and password on the new router, it usually reconnects on its own.
Use Ethernet instead
The Ring Alarm base station has an Ethernet port. If Wi-Fi is weak where it sits, plug it directly into the router with a network cable. It is the most reliable connection and also avoids Wi-Fi password changes taking it offline.
Cellular backup
With Ring's professional monitoring plan (Ring Protect Pro), the base station can use cellular backup when your internet goes down, so alarms still reach the monitoring center. Without that plan, an offline base station still sounds its siren locally, but you will not get notifications and the monitoring center will not hear about alarms until it reconnects.
Sensors offline, base station online
If the base station is fine but individual sensors or the keypad show offline, the problem is different: low batteries or distance from the base station. Replace the device's battery, move it closer, or add a Ring range extender. See sensor low battery.
Still offline
Ring's support site and the app's device health page show the base station's last connection and signal. If nothing above works, contact Ring support before trying a factory reset; a reset removes the base station's setup and you would have to add your sensors again.
