Before You Install or Replace One
- Confirm exact model number on the communicator label matches the install manual.
- Verify host panel family — Keybus PowerSeries, Neo Corbus, MAXSYS Combus, IMPASSA integrated, or universal dialer-capture are not interchangeable.
- Confirm monitoring receiver and account accept this communicator format (Contact ID, SIA, IP, cellular).
- Check carrier/network generation (3G sunset, LTE band, Ethernet path) for your region.
- Add communicator current draw to panel battery standby calculation where the module loads from panel bus power.

Error Codes
Communicator faults appear on the host panel trouble display ([*, 2] on keypads where supported) and in DLS/dealer tools — the communicator itself may show LED status per its install manual.

Troubleshooting
Start with host panel identification, then communicator model, then reporting path (POTS, IP, cellular, dual-path).
Quick diagnostic flow
- Confirm communicator model matches System Enhancement Module Installation Guide (English).
- Verify host panel is on the supported list in compatible-peripherals.md.
- Read active troubles on the panel keypad or installer interface.
- Test physical path (Ethernet link, SIM registration, dialer voltage) independent of zone programming.
- Run communication test to central station after local troubles clear.
- Verify account and receiver programming matches programmed phone number, IP, or cellular destination.
Power and supervision
- Corbus/Keybus modules: check AUX/Corbus voltage and enrollment in installer programming.
- Universal dialer-capture: verify Tip/Ring seizure and ~50 VDC on line when panel is idle.
- Dual-path: test each path independently before relying on backup failover.
Network / cellular
- IP: ping gateway, confirm firewall allows outbound to receiver, check cable and link LEDs.
- Cellular: confirm SIM active, APN correct, RSSI acceptable at install location; use antenna extension kit if enclosure blocks signal.
- 3G modules: verify carrier has not sunset 3G in your area — plan LE4010/TL880 LTE migration where required.
SEM LTE migration
- Plan battery recalculation — LTE SEM peak current may exceed older HSPA SEM on same AUX supply.
SEM LTE
- Recalculate battery — LTE SEM peak draw may exceed HSPA on same AUX supply.
After panel swap
Re-enroll the communicator on the new panel, re-download programming, and re-test all reporting paths — communicators are not hot-swappable across panel families without reprogramming.

Pre-install checklist
- Match communicator SKU to host panel family (see compatible-peripherals.md).
- Plan mounting location — metal cabinets, underground rooms, and long coax runs affect cellular/IP performance.
- Reserve panel bus power or external power per manual; update battery calculation chart.
- Confirm monitoring account and receiver are provisioned before final test.
Typical install sequence
- Mount communicator (or PCL-422 remote mount if used) per manual clearances.
- Wire power and data: Corbus/Keybus homerun, dialer Tip/Ring, or Ethernet as applicable.
- Enroll module in panel programming (Neo/Pro
[902], PowerSeries alt-comms section, IMPASSA[382]/[401]as applicable).
- Program reporting codes, account, and path priority (primary/backup for dual-path).
- Register with central station / Alarm.com / T-Link receiver.
- Run end-to-end communication test and document signal levels.
