Overview
The NX-4 is the smallest Caddx NetworX panel, later sold under the GE and Interlogix names. It was built for apartments and small homes: four zones on the board and up to eight in total. It uses the same keypads, sensors and programming as the larger NetworX panels, so everything you learn on it carries over.
At a glance
| Zones | 4 on the board, expandable to 8 (hardwired and/or wireless) |
|---|---|
| Partitions | 1 |
| Users | Up to 8 |
| Expansion | Up to 8 keypads and 1 other module (not counting hardwire) |
| Siren | Built-in 112 dB siren driver, convertible to a voltage output |
| Power | 16.5 V AC, 40 VA transformer |
| Kit | NX-4-KIT: panel and NX-108E 8-zone LED keypad |
Limits to know
- Only one module. The installation manual allows up to 8 keypads and one other module (not counting hardwire), so a wireless receiver and a communicator cannot both be added as separate modules. An NX-148E-RF keypad, which has its own receiver and enrolls as a keypad, is the usual way around this.
- No zone doubling. The NX-595E manual notes that zone doubling is not available on NX-4 panels.
- Eight zones maximum. If you need more, the NX-6V2 and NX-8V2 take the same keypads and sensors.

Error Codes
When the Service light is on, press * 2. The zone light that comes on gives the type of trouble: 1 system, 2 tamper, 3 wireless low battery, 4 wireless supervision, 5 zone trouble, 6 phone line, 7 communication failure, 8 clock lost. See the NetworX service light guide.
Troubleshooting
Beeping after a power cut
Enter your code to silence it. Then set the clock: press * 9 7, the master code, and the time as four digits in 24-hour format.
Siren does not sound
The siren output drives a speaker by default. For a self-contained siren, the installer must switch the output to voltage in programming.
Old phone-line monitoring
If the landline is gone, the panel reports phone and communication troubles. Because the NX-4 takes only one extra module, a cellular communicator uses up its expansion. Plan wireless through an NX-148E-RF keypad if you need both.

Installation Notes
- Default codes: master (user 1)
1234; go to program code9713. - Program mode: with the system disarmed, press * 8. The five function lights flash. Enter the go to program code; the Service light flashes when you are in.
- Location 42 holds the go to program code. A six-digit code option exists; if you enable it, make sure the go to program code is six digits first.
FAQs
Can I add more than eight zones to an NX-4?
No. Eight is the maximum, and zone doubling is not available on the NX-4. A larger NetworX panel can usually reuse the keypads and sensors.
