2GIG GC3 Control Panel

The 2GIG GC3 is a 7-inch touchscreen all-in-one panel from Nortek's 2GIG line, sold through dealers and usually monitored with Alarm.com. It uses 2GIG's 345 MHz wireless sensors, has Z-Wave Plus for home automation, and reports through a plug-in GC3 cell radio.

GC3 vs GC3e

The GC3e adds support for 2GIG's encrypted eSeries sensors. Otherwise the two are operated and serviced the same way. The 2GIG Edge is 2GIG's newer panel.

At a glance

Cellular communication failure

Check whether the radio is an LTE model; 3G radios stopped working when carriers shut down 3G. GC3 radios are specific to the GC3 and to your dealer's platform (Alarm.com or another), so confirm both before ordering a GC3 LTE radio.

Weak signal

Panels in basements or metal-sided homes often struggle. The 2GIG-ANT5XL-GC3 attic antenna moves the antenna to a better spot.

Old wired sensors

Existing hardwired doors and windows can be brought onto a GC3 with a 2GIG takeover module, which turns wired zones into wireless ones the panel can learn. See the TAKE1 takeover module and takeover kit.

• Cell radios: GC3 4G LTE cell radio with Alarm.com.
• Antenna: 2GIG-ANT5XL-GC3.
• Remotes and sensors: 2GIG 345 MHz devices such as the 345S key ring remote and recessed door/window contact.
• Takeover: TAKE1, TAKE-KIT1.

• Install the cell radio with the panel powered down, then have the dealer activate it on their platform.
• Mount the panel centrally; it is also the wireless receiver for every sensor.
